Yamaha undertake significant changes in the motor racing team in
MotoGP meet the racing season 2016. In addition to replacing the tires with Michelin tires, the manufacturer also move the fuel tank hole earlier in front, to the back or under the seat.
As reported Crashnet, Sunday (13/12/2015), it is not known exactly how the other teams, but they are estimated using the tank hole that was in front of the rider. Yamaha do it in line with the new rules MotoGP organizer that allows the addition of motor fuels of up to two liters.
But, certainly, the placement of the hole to the back of the fuel tank under the seat that has been introduced Yamaha Sikurit Grand Prix in Motegi, Japan, last October. At that time the muzzle of the tank behind it already exists in the motorcycle ridden wild card rider, Katsuyuki Nakasuga.
In fact, two Movistar riders Jorge Lorenzo and Yamaha that Valentino Rossi has also been testing the motor with fuel hole behind it. They do so in Aragon Circuit, in September, and at the Valencia circuit last November.
"Motor 2016 we tried in Aragon customized with Michelin tires to get the best performance. (Monocong) fuel tank in the back seat, earlier in front of the rider," Lorenzo said.
About the tire replacement, Lorenzo manager, Wilco Zeelenberg, say, when using Bridgestone tires cengekeram power motors mostly given at the front wheels. Meanwhile, when using Michelin tires, the rear tire grip are considered more dominant.
It happened, because the weight distribution to the front of the bike shifted to compensate. "The balance of grip feels different (when using Michelin tires). But we also got an extra two liters of fuel for the next season, so we need to increase the volume (tank) fuel," Zeelenberg said.
Over the past several seasons racing, Yamaha and Honda are only allowed to fill 20 liters of fuel in the motor. So that, with the additional capacity of the tank, the fuel can be brought increased to 22 liters.
With the new tank design,
Yamaha also had the opportunity to experiment, especially to get the weight distribution and geometry of the bike more perfect. Especially with the use of new tires, Michelin in the 2016 racing season.
